Unfortunately Älva has been sick lately. She can't keep anything down. We're consulting with the vet to see what we can do for her. We're very concerned.

In other news, Elfina appears to be pregnant. We're worried for her because she's so young and tiny as it is. We're guessing that Cheesedoodle's the father since he's the resident male where she lives. We'll be keeping an eye out to see how she's doing.

There is a new feature to the front page of the Kitty Café website - the Featured Cuteness of the Week. This week's cuteness is Gracie. Check it it out here.

Last night the Girl and Boy signed up for cat insurance. I used to have my own insurance when we lived at the tiny cottage, and I got to go outside there. So maybe this means I'll get to go outside now. Whenever the girl talks about it she gets all worried though and picks me up like a baby to tell me about how I have to "be careful" and "not get into fights" blah, blah, blah... Just let me out!

Speaking of outside, I've been noticing the fur suits the kitties out the window wear. So many goofy colors and patterns. And those black cats! How plain. I mean, Skira wears those fluffy pantaloons that make her bum look big, but at least she's got some style and recognizes that all the coolest cats wear white socks.

Alright, that's enough for today, time for a nap.

Updates and renovations:

Last week I cleaned up and prepped the flower beds for spring plantings. We made a special trip to the local garden center and picked up some perennial seeds for partial shaded areas. The main flower bed was planted with a wildflower mix (pretty!)and the long narrow bed along the back fence was planted with wild catnip seeds. I'm excited to post pictures once things start sprouting and blooming. I hope our furry patrons find this welcoming. Soon I'll sow some cat grass seeds in small pots to place at the dining area.

The next project is to finish the cafe tables (they need to be painted and have the appropriate legs attached. After that I'll get to work on the indoor cafe seating (couches perhaps?) as a precursor to creating similar outdoor seating with appropriate all weather fabrics.

So much to do!

Meanwhile our established regulars continue to visit frequently and we've even made a few new friends. I hope they'll like our future additions and upgrades.

4/9/06 12:51 pm - nicodemus - Welcome to the Kitty Café

The Kitty Café is a kitty dining establishment in the Whiteaker neighborhood of Eugene, Oregon that caters to the respective tastes of the neighborhood kitties, as well as squirrels, birds, and even the occasional raccoon and possum.

The Kitty Café Livejournal Community not only serves as a forum for your thoughts and comments about the café, it's patrons, and the Kitty Café website, but is also a place to relate your own experiences with the feline species (or other aminals in your neighborhood), and generally discuss any topic, feline-related or otherwise cute. There's little restriction as to the content of posts and topics of discussion, aside from the usually expected civility and an at least loosely related subject matter.

The Whiteaker neighborhood of Eugene is a very kitty-friendly, and thus kitty-populated, neighborhood, which makes it an ideal location for the Kitty Café. You can't walk a block down the street without seeing a neighborhood kitty scampering around.

The Kitty Café was only recently established and it's website even more recently than that, so it is still seeing frequent revisions. This community will also serve as a news outlet for updates of the café itself and the website.

Stay tuned for more Kitty Café cuteness.
